Excerpt from State Universities and Black Americans: An Inquiry Into Desegregation and Equity for Negroes in 100 Public UniversitiesAnother limitation of this study is semantics. The Negro, the black American, the afro-american - none of these terms is fully satisfactory to all of the American citizens who make up this racial group. Con temporary vernacular surrounding the subject of race includes many words with imprecise or disputed meanings. Among these are integration, separatism, nationalism, coexistence, discrimination, moderate, militant, radical, revolutionary, racism, relevance, non negotiable, autonomous and demand. Many of these words are emotional, rhetorical or misleading, at the same time, many of them are essential, simply because they have no more descriptive alternatives. For that reason, most of them will be found in these pages.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
