Electrolysis now plays an important part in the processes of Chemical Industry, and the value of electro-chemistry is generally recognised. An account of the general principles of electrolysis and an explanation Of the terms relating thereto have been given in the Introduction, and, at the suggestion of the Editor, a chapter has been included on methods of generating current. These two sections should prove serviceable to the student and the general reader, and the numerous references to original papers will give those who may desire it an introduction to the literature of the subject.
