Excerpt from 152nd Annual Session: Held With First Baptist Church, Morganton, Missionary Ridge Baptist Church, Morganton, North Morganton Baptist Church, Morganton, October 29-30, 1981Fred Forester was born atop Lookout Mountain, Head River, Georgia, July 19, 1900. He was the fifth child of a timber man and attended school in a one room log house.He was converted at age 19, called to preach, and graduated from Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia. He graduated with a ba. Degree from Mercer University and received the William Russell Owen Medal for the best Ministerial Athlete. While attending Southwestern Baptist Theological Semi nary in Texas where he earned the thm. And M. R. E. Degrees and pastored four half-time churches, he married Ellen Elizabeth Nabers, a graduate of mary-harden Baylor University and a student at the seminary. They are the parents of five sons and have fifteen grandchildren.
