Governors of Dalhousie College was passed in 1821, and the following rather formidable array of magnates chosen to serve - the Governor General of British North America, the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, the Bishop, the Chief Justice, the President of the Council, the Treasurer of the Province, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, and the President of the College. Today, the only mem ber of the Board whose membership is based solely upon official position in public life is the Mayor of Halifax. So far has Dalhousie progressed along the pathway of demo cracy.
