Excerpt from A Pickwickian Pilgrimage This little book is made out of letters published in "The New York Tribune" in the summer of 1879. A few paragraphs have been added here and there, and other slight changes have been made, but the original matter remains substantially as it was first written. I did not know, until after the last of the letters had appeared in print, that the London of Charles Dickens was the subject of a small volume published in England a few years ago, but that a theme has been treated once is not always a reason why it ought not to be treated again. A writer in "Scribner's Monthly" has since gone over the same field, and found many fresh and curious things to tell, and the topic is not yet exhausted.
