The point 0 is called the origin. Values of x are measured from 0 along the axis of 37, according to some convenient Scale of measurement, and are called abscissae, positive values being drawn to the right of 0 along 0x, and negative values to the left Of 0 along ox'.Values of g are drawn (on the same scale) parallel to the axis of g, from the ends of the corresponding abscissae, and are called ordinates.
