As early as 1848 the corpora tion passed a statute rendering four years of professional study a necessary qualification for the medical degree of the University, although it did not require that the whole period should be Spent in attending a medical school. At present, however, it is the rare exception for one of our graduates not to have pursued his studies for four winter sessions.
