Excerpt from Agricultural Conservation Program: Statistical Summary, 1961This annual publication brings together comprehensive data collected by county and State Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Committees relative to conservation measures performed on farms participating in the 1961 Agricultural Conservation Program.The tables and maps in this publication are designed to permit detailed analyses of the various conservation practices and program provisions, including information with respect to 1961 participation, assistance, pooling agreements, the Naval Stores Conservation Program and other re lated data. Summary and comparison tables showing selected pertinent data from previous years are included for use in comparing and evaluating 1961 and earlier program results.Information on the extent of conservation measures performed under the 1961 Agricultural Conservation Program and amounts of assistance for such measures was obtained from a complete tabulation of individual farm data. The amounts shown under Assistance are tabulations of the Federal cost shares paid to farmers for performing practices.
