And IVI have not forgotten my muhe-maller, Cajon, a little, lively, talkative being, born at Macon, where he had 'been a finging-boy. He was afterwards by turns a foldier, a deferrer, a capuchin friar, a clerk in a counting-houfe, and laflly a vagrant, arriving at Paris with his wife and children without' a penny in his pocket, but he had a very pleafing counter voice, rarely to be met with in men who have not nu dergone a certain operation, and admirably adapted to the teaching of young perfons to fing. Introduced to my father, I know not by whom, he had me for his firll fcholar.
