Excerpt from Annual Report of the Attorney-General of the United States for the Year 1893The report of the United States Attorney (exhibit 2) fully sets forth the condition of the business of this court, the principal feature of which is the large number of suits that have recently been initiated. At the date of the attorney's preceding report, October 18, 1892, the number of cases pending was 44. Since that time 237 separate suits have been begun. This large increase in the. Number of suits is not, however, to be taken as indicating the same increase in the number of serious litigations before the court. As the time for filing suits under the sixth section expired on the 3d of March last, very many petitions were entered at or just before that time only to save possible rights, most of which, it may fairly be anticipated, will not be brought to trial.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
