From the rural area of Virginia to the inner city of one of the worst housing projects, Amanda, her mother and other siblings learned fast about survival. Mother being so young with an absentee father the family continued to overcome various obstacles such as incest, drug and mental abuse, poverty, domestic violence, etc. Amanda and some of the other family members submerged themselves into a tidal wave of despair by engaging in negative activities while living in Baltimore City. However in that path Amanda was graced with a devoted family, friends and co-workers who provided just enough guidance to stimulate her towards better choices which resulted in a better future.
