Behavior of Composite Slabs with Different End Anchorages

The deck commonly was the main structural component for the floors of steel framed buildings. The addition of concrete cover provided structural strength, served the purposes of fire protection, a means to level the top surface of the floor, and a means to distribute the load. The construction philosophy for the use of steel deck was to have it serve only as form-work for the traditionally reinforced concrete slab, which provided the full structural capacity. In this book, a laboratory test program included full-scale performance tests of composite slabs utilizing trapezoidal deck profiles that are commonly available in Egyptian market. A discussion of experimental results in the light of various codes and specifications was carried out to study the composite slab behavior focusing on the effect of the end anchorage of the slab on the interaction property and slab performance. The codes involved in the comparison are BS 5950-4:1994, CSSBI S3-2003, EC4 EN 1994-1-1:2004. A design procedure to simplify the design process is performed by means of programming to good evaluation composite slabs behavior.
