In the Cambridge University LibraryThe peculiarity of the contents, and, in the case of the para phrase of St. Bernard and the prophecy of Beket, the unique ness of the poems, is rather the reason for their publication than any value which attaches to the language. The poems are in the Scottish dialect, but the ms. Is in a late fifteenth century hand, and the forms vary so much, either from the carelessness of the scribe, or in the case of the prophecies from the general uncertainty of the sense, that the editor deems it lost labour to enter upon a discussion of variations, for which no rule can be assigned.In the' few Notes which are appended, and in the Glossary, the pieces are distinguished by the letters A.
