BLACK TEARS is an epic tale about a young African American girl who experience innumerable adversities because of her dark skin color. The genre is similar to "The Color Purple" and "The Imitation of Life". The main focus of the book is to point out the slave mentality that existed and still exists in the African American community.
Lorretta Lynn Russell's life change when her mother passed away. She and her two siblings are forced to move in with a loveless grandmother. Grandma Hattie Mae despises Lorretta Lynn and thinks she is a black curse on the family. She lives with a daily barrage of insults regarding her dark skin, and she can't do anything right in Hattie Mae's eyes.
Hattie Mae is tired, old, and deeply burdened. Lorretta Lynn is a constant reminder of the dark musician who had seduced her daughter Cookie, and led to Cookie's demise through a drug overdose. She is viewed a saintly Christian in her community, and her abuse of Lorretta Lynn is her dark secret.

Gloria G. Williams is a native of Saginaw, Michigan. She has been writing for almost 21 years. Her first book was published in 2005 (Wow! Poetry). She was offered a record deal contract and declined due to undisclosed reasons. She has also won awards for poetry. In addition, Gloria received an associate degree from Delta Community College. After graduating from Delta, she continued her education at Eastern Michigan University. Soon after graduation, she was accepted into a non-degree Graduate Sociology intern program at Wayne State University. She worked in the field of social work for several years and then decided to move on to a Fortune 500 company. She enjoys spending quality time with family and close friends.
