D. 1374 1377, &C, The present volume forms part of a series of Calendars of the Close Rolls from the reign of Edward I. To that of Edward IV., the object and character of which are explained in the Preface to the first volume for the reign of Edward II. (a.d. 1307 It deals with the normal rolls of the last four years of the reign of Edward III. And also with two Supplementary Rolls containing enrol ments of writs de warantia diamm for the years 1341-1342 and 1355 - 1357. The text has been prepared, with the sanction of the Lords Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury, ' by Mr. W. H. B. Bird, b.a., and the Index has been compiled by Mr. C. T.
