The voluminous literature on industrial poisoning by carbon mon oxide gas contains many valuable papers referring to research Work and various investigations. In a short paper it is undesirable to go into the subject in detail. Hence the object of this paper is to set forth brie¿y the liability to carbon monoxide poisoning of those employed in the various departments of a steel plant, the sources of the gas, the extent to which it is present, its effect on Workers, and to make certain recommendations for the prevention and remedy of such conditions.
This report, prepared through the cooperation of the Public Health Service and the Bureau of Mines, is published as a contribution to the literature dealing With the improvement of conditions affecting the health of persons employed in the metallurgical industries.
