Career Vectors Basic Version is a new comprehensive, structured, data-gathering process to provide an individual with detailed in-depth information about themselves and possible occupational options. You can use this information in three ways: 1) To gain insight into your career identity, vocational interests, and work-related strengths and development needs 2) To identify meaningful occupational possibilities to explore 3) To develop and enhance your career potential It should be noted that the Career Vectors System is not for general use--- it was designed specifically to meet the needs of motivated and professionally-oriented adults and advanced students. The model for the Career Vectors System is based on the pioneering work of Dr. John Holland's theory of career choice and the role of personality and person- environment fit. The CVS was also influenced by Dr. Rodney Lowman's Inter-domain Theory of Career Assessment. This theory places an importance on the need to integrate the three domains of interests, skills and abilities, and personality characteristics for a comprehensive career assessment. The Career Vectors System is, to our knowledge, one of few if any instruments that integrates these three dimensions in depth in one instrument. It also allows for a development process where people identify their strengths and development needs.
