Excerpt from Catalogue of the Australian Birds in the Australian Museum, at Sydney, N. S. W, Vol. 3: PsittaciThis Part III. Of the Catalogue of the Australian Birds, contains a description of all the species of the Psittaci or Parrot tribe at present known to inhabit Australia, in all, including varieties, 65 in number, and a list of such as are contained in the Australian Museum. In addition to those in the Museum, specimens have been received for examination from the Adelaide Museum, and opportunity has been taken of examining specimens at the Macleayan Museum at the University, and the Dobroyde Collection at Ashfield. In all about 750 specimens have been examined, coming from various parts of Australia. We trust our correspondents throughout the colonies will endeavour to complete our National Collection by forwarding specimens of such species as will be seen by the list to be wanting, those most required are the smaller species of White Cockatoos, Polytelis alexandras, and all species of Euphema, with the exception of E. Pulchella. I have much pleasure in acknowledging the assiduity and diligence of my Assistant, Mr. A. J. North, in the preparation of this work.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
