Corporate capacity and name. - The citizens of the state of New York from time to time inhabitants of the territory known as the city of Rochester, are continued a municipal corporation in perpetuity under the name of "The City of Rochester."2. Corporate powers - The city has power to receive by gift, grant, devise, bequest, purchase, or condemnation proceedings, and to hold and convey such personal estate and such real estate within or without the limits of the city as the purposes of the corporation may require, to contract and be contracted with, to sue and defend, and to be sued in any court, to make, have, use and alter at pleasure a common seal, to have and exercise all other rights and privileges conferred upon it by law or necessary to carry out its corporate functions and duties.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
