At first the opportunities which the profession of his choice held out to him here seemed to offer prospects ofspeedy advance ment, but proximity to a great market for the manuscripts which it was his delight to prepare proved too alluring for continued loyalty to the law and it was not long before he was enrolled at several newspaper o¿ices as a regular and valued contributor.
