Where Mr. Lindley is laboring, in Africa, he has 'created such a spirit of agriculture that one man, in one year, for his own neighborhood alone, sent to Boston for the purchase of plows. Steamships and railways, cotton mills and telegraphs follow in the wake of Christian missions. The missionaries have become the guardian angels of seamen in the Pacific. Formerly the natives were pirates and murderers. It was perilous to sail among the islands. N ow that is all changed, wherever a missionary has been laboring.
