Angebote / Angebote:
The first settlers came to what would become the state of Maryland in 1634. Eventually there would be twenty-three counties in the state. This second book in the "Our Maryland Counties" series for elementary school students covers Baltimore, Frederick, Harford, and Carroll counties.Since many of the counties share similar characteristics and a common history, the authors begin each book in the series with a description of the region's geography, climate, plants and animals, and history. Then the uniqueness of each county is celebrated with absorbing text about its founding, subsequent growth, county government, major towns, prominent churches, education, business, agriculture, natural resources, and places of interest. Asides called "Fun Facts" and "Not-so-fun Facts" help to keep the students involved in the subject.
