`Currant Bread`, a boyhood evacuee memoir. 1939. This is the story of a 7 year old boy, who was evacuated in 1939 to live with total strangers, in a small village in rural Staffordshire, England, near the small country town of Uttoxeter. Sadly, his lot was not to be a happy one. But it is told with an ironic sense of humour too. A sense of humour that was actually fashioned by his trials and tribulations of this traumatic experience. So travel with him, via Hitler`s bombs, from London to Staffordshire, to his new life with strangers. He was not to see his family again, for 7 years. His Dad, never again.
