Varieties of the black currants derived from Ribes nipm a native of northern Europe and Asia. Althouga not found in America if e wild state, the black currant seems to have found no difficulty in adapting itself to our conditions. One variety of black current, the Grandall, comes from an American species Ribs: comm, better known as the ¿owering current.
