Excerpt from Description and Genealogy of the Manuscripts and Prints of Lydgate's Troy Book: Inaugural-Dissertation In the first miniature, fol. 38a, a kneeling monk presents a book to a king, robed in blue, and seated on a throne under a canopy, with attendants standing by (comp. C, D 2, and Cr). The miniature at the beginning of Book fol. 40 a, represents Peleus in ermine and blue, kneeling in prayer before a tree behind him are his dead subjects, and in the foreground are two new ones, who have evidently just been transformed from ants into men. To the left is a red figure with a ¿aming sword, personifying the pestilence, and to the right a hand emanates from a cloud. 1n the background a castle, trees, etc. For the other miniatures, which occur at fols. 107 verso, 137 verso, and 172 recto (at the beginning of Books IV., and V.) see the description in J ames, p. 300.
