Excerpt from Development, Testing and Evaluation of Mhd-Materials: Quarterly Report for the Period July-September 1978One approach has been to make a series Of five component slags by melting mixtures of oxides and carbonates in the laboratory and measuring the viscosity of the resulting liquids at temperatures ranging from about 1620 to about 1200 C. Systematic changes were made to a base or starting composition by adding or subtracting one oxide at a time in 5% increments.
