A funny thing happened on the way to the publisher. I told my 10th grade teacher that I didn't like poetry because it makes you read between the lines. God forbid I should have to think. But, I started to appreciate the lyrics to the music that I liked at that me. The words and images of Jim Morrison, Seals & Crofts, Simon & Garfunkel and others seemed more relevant than "she loves you ya, ya, ya". One influence led to another: the darkness of Edgar Allan Poe, the powerful soliloquies of Shakespeare, the experimental style of e.e. cummings. I tinkered and tried these methods until I developed my own way. This is a book of my search for the answers to the unanswerable questions. There are many paths to try: philosophy, religion, science, the arts. Choose one. They all lead with an unquenchable desire to somewhere. Born, educated and s ll living in Pittsburgh, I left the University of Pittsburgh with a creative pen in hand only to find work in an office at U.S. Steel. I met my future wife in that same building working for a law firm. After thirteen years, a strike/lockout/lay-off and a few part- me jobs later, I ended up at a Gulf Oil terminal. So, I have been on both sides of the work force, white collar and blue collar. Twenty-two years later, I decided it was me to fulfill my goals. I am pushing forward to publish my work which has been most of my adult life in the making. By the way, we're still married thirty years later.
