While I realize that the publication Of an autobiography may sug gest that the writer has an unwarranted degree of self-im portance, it is nevertheless true that a faithful recital of the incidents of any life, however humbly lived, cannot fail to be invested with a degree of human interest that will be both inspiring and instructive.While all of this is true, this book would never have been written if it had not been for my desire to record for my children and grandchildren the incidents that follow.
