Sovereign direct investments in critical infrastructures in the EU are increasing. The energy networks, which are essential for every modern society, are particularly affected by this development. This work deals with existing, but insufficient protection and control instruments and designs a coherent and efficient European approach to face state-controlled direct investments in crucial infrastructures, taking particularly in account EU law.
