In modern Power Electronics systems high switchingfrequencies are employed to increase power density, but EMC filter components are responsible for a largevolumetric occupation of the power system. In somecases the EMC filters required to fulfill EMCregulations cover more than 30% of the total systemvolume. In a world where space gets expensive, thevolumetric reduction of the components in EMC filtersis of great importance aiming for reduced dimensions.This work proposed modeling techniques for thegeneration and propagation of conducted emissions inthree-phase converters and filter concepts aiming tomeet EMC standards and reduce the volume of the EMCfilters.Optimizing EMC filters requires several steps to beperformed, which are described here focusing onthree-phase PWM converters.Finally, a discussion quantifying how much filtersstrongly impact the volume of three-phase PWMconverter systems is preformed.
