Fair Grove
Angebote / Angebote:
As early as 1830, individuals began calling Fair Grove their home. Located on the Lake to the Gulf Highway (later to become Highway 65) that ran from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico, travelers overnighted at the Bell Hotel, the Fair Grove Hotel, Carter's Hotel or the Transient Hotel. If they needed a blacksmith, at least five were available. After automobiles came on the scene, if they needed gas, several stations were open, some giving 24-hour a day service. And while in town, they could shop at a variety of stores. Fair Grove's steam-powered Wommack Mill began operation in 1883. In the March 2006 issue of 417 magazine, Fair Grove was chosen the third best place to live of 34 Missouri towns rated. Fair Grove, with it's rich history, is home of one of the largest arts and crafts festivals, held annually the last full weekend of September.
