The concept tends to generate a visceral response, either in favor or against. It can be so controversial partly because there's no agreed-upon definition for feminism. Politicians, news media, and others often use the word to incite an emotional response. We rarely stop to think about what it means to be a feminist, or more importantly, what a pro-feminist approach could mean for women (and men).
