Excerpt from Fourteenth Census of the United States Taken in the Year 1920, Vol. 6: Part 3, Agriculture, Reports for States, With Statistics for Counties and a Summary for the United States, and the North, South, and WestFarm acreage. - The total area of land in farms in 1920 was acres, as compared with acres in 1910. The area of improved land in farms in 1920 was acres, as compared with acres in 1910. The total farm acre age thus shows an increase of per cent and the improved acreage an increase of per cent. One reason for the greater increase in total farm acreage than in improved acreage is to be found in the fact that large areas of unimproved land used mainly for graz ing were added to the farm acreage in certain of the Mountain states. The average acreage per farm in 1920 was as compared with in 1910, while the average farm in 1920 contained 78 acres of improved land, as com pared with acres in 1910.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
