In October 1956, the people of Hungary openly rebelled against the mighty Soviet Union. For three weeks the struggle for control of Hungary captured the attention of the world. Although the revolt was put down with brutal force, the Hungarians had fought with valor and distinction, killing some 700 Soviet troops and destroying a number of tanks. Hungary would regain its freedom in May of 1990 and honor once again those who had lost their lives fighting against the Soviet Union. Freedom is never free, and many citizens of Hungary in 1956 paid the ultimate price for liberty. Freedom's Price is dedicated to those men and women who fought so valiantly in Hungary back in 1956.
