This book appeals to language teachers who wish to instill critical thinking in their students, as well as teacher educators. Four case studies, authored by classroom teachers, illustrates the development of critical thinking in the English as a foreign language classroom in primary and secondary school contexts in Argentina. This book uses a wide variety of data collected from their students, such as drawings, posters, conversations between students in the classroom, and leaflets, the studies illuminate neglected aspects of critical thinking, namely its citizenship and human rights dimensions, which involve imaginative, moral and ethical concerns. The book also presents three booklets for the classroom, free for download, designed in Argentina, and intended to develop these dimensions. Finally, there is a concrete proposal for teacher education.
