'his duties have kept him at field work without opportunities for prepar ation of his reports, except that of Pike county, which he has submitted to you. The progress of the surveys by all the officers has been reported to you at various times, but all the work is not ready for publication.As chief officer, responsible for the accuracy and progress of the work, I have been greatly embarrassed for want of adequate and financial means to carry on the work in the most satisfactory manner. To obviate some of these difficulties, the Geological Board unanimously recommended certain changes in the law, which have also been unanimously recommended to the House by the General Agricultural Committee.
