By the Act 3 George III., chapter 75 baptismal extracts and affidavits as to age, etc, were required before licences were granted.Apparently, the additional trouble given by recording these particulars, caused the details to be omitted after the new regulations had been observed for a short period, as after 1823 no baptismal certificates were attached to the affidavits.Bonds for the due performance, etc., of the marriages for which licences were granted, were no longer required after 1822, in accordance, no doubt, with the provisions of the above-mentioned Act, which was passed for the better preventing of clandestine marriages.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
