Slavery wherever it exists is an evil. In 1619 slavery was introduced into North America when twenty Africans were landed in the state of Virginia. There are now in the United States of America 13, 000, 000 descendants of these slaves who have been free men and women since the Emancipation Proclamation of President Lincoln in 1863. This is the story of one of these former slaves.
