Mrs Alex. McVeigh Miller was the pen name of Mittie Frances Clarke Point (1850-1937), an American novelist who wrote around 80 sensation romances published as "dime novels" between 1881 and 1915 and who was one of the best-known writers of her time. This work was first serialized in the New York Family Story Paper as Jaquelina, or, The Outlaw's Bride during 1882 and later reprinted as part of Street & Smith's Eagle Series no. 192, in which the story was printed alongside another of the author's stories, An Old Man's Darling.
