Excerpt from Journal of the House of Assembly, Vol. 3: From August 17, to February 26, Compiled and Published Under Authority of the Legislature, 1908The qualifications of a representative were that he must be twenty-one years old, a resident for twelve months in the county for which he sat, of the Protestant religion, and pos sessed, in his own right, of two hundred and fifty acres of land, or some property to the amount of two hundred and fifty pounds, and no person holding any title of nobility could hold any office of trust, profit or honor.
