But for the disinterested, loving, patient researches of that devoted prelate, there are names that would have been lost and forgotten on earth, though they are, as we humbly trust, in the book of life. Bishop Burgess gave the manuscript of his list of twenty-seven hundred and eighty-seven names to the House of Bishops in 1859. Five dioceses asked for the loan of it. Through the zealous cfiorts of an aged clergyman of Massachusetts, the late Rev. William S.
