ISher parsons was the youngest of nine children, of William and Abigail frost-(blunt) Parsons, of Alfred, York county, Maine.His first ancestor of the name, in this country, was Joseph Parsons (i), who arrived from England in 1635, and was one of the earliest inhabitants of Springfield, and afterwards of Northampton, Massachusetts. His oldest son, Joseph was a prominent citizen and trader in Northampton, born in Springfield, 1647, he died at Northampton, 1729. His oldest son, J oéeph graduated at Harvard college, 1697, was a pupil and admirer of Rev. Increase. Mather, was clergyman at Lebanon, Connecticut, and afterwards at Salisbury, Massachusetts, and died there, 1740. His oldest son, Joseph graduated 1720, was minister at Bradford, Massachusetts, from 1726 till his death in 1765.
