Excerpt from Memoranda: On All's Well That Ends Well, the Two Gentlemen of Verona, Much Ado About Nothing, and on Titus AndronicusThe main incidents of the serious portion of the present comedy were originally related in the Decameron of Boccaccio, in the ninth novel of the third day, a story which was known to Shakespeare through the medium of an English translation, first published in William Painter's Palace of Pleasure, in the year 1566 reprinted in 1575.
