When God, amid the smoke and thunder and lightning, de scended, and on Mount Sinai spoke to the Church His law, His first words were: I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. In which he reminded his people of that which he had done for them: thus to enforce his commands, and secure obedience.
