Mental Health Awareness

Angebote / Angebote:

This book boldly confronts the reality of black/brown mental pain head on. There is a systematic and racist belief that black/brown people can deal with and ignore pain better than any other race. Speaking from experience in the minority communities of America, there is a negative stigma surrounding mental health. Instead of seeking professional heap for conditions such as ptsd, depression and anxiety many resorts to self-medication, drug, opioids, alcohol, etc. or isolation in an attempt to solve their problem on their own. Black/brown people are reluctant to discuss mental health issues and seek treatment because of the shame and stigma still associated with such conditions in our communities. As a black person it is not easy expressing emotional pain because we are told not to show those emotions. I am approaching it both from community education and cultural competency. Laquita D. Wright knows that black & brown people are hurting. She knows because she is one of them. "Mental Health Awareness: Black & Brown Pain, " shed lights on the need to improve access to mental health treatment within the underrepresented communities. For many centuries, Indigenous people of color have experienced trauma in all aspect of our lives. This book is a must read and a guide to finding relief through mental help.
