A mere outlining of a plan of study would be neither helpful nor satisfactory. It seemed desirable, therefore, to try to indicate the stages of a progressive course of study, and to present methods of teaching a few important points. The topics selected for fuller treatment were among those that require simple and careful presenta tion by teachers, in order that the concise statements of the text-books may be comprehended by pupils.
