The ruling of the Federal Constitutional Court on the rent cap in Berlin is analysed and reviewed in a critical way. The thesis also investigates the compatibility of a rental stop with basic rights, particularly the limits which result from Art. 14 of the German Constitution. Finally the thesis presents a proposal how to introduce a rental stop.
