The collects, epistles, and gospels have been printed, as in the original, in a larger type, while the introits, grails, offertories, and communions, are in a smaller fount. With the exception of the first page, the rubrics in the original are printed in black, but in the same fount as the introits and other anthems it has been thought well in this edition to distinguish the rubrics by printing them in italics, although there is no such distinction in the original. In like manner, for the convenience xof the reader, the title of each mass has been printed in capitals, without regard to the character of the original title, which is very often added by hand in red.
