Natural Polysaccharides for Bioadhesive Drug Delivery
Angebote / Angebote:
In recent years, considerable attention has been focused on the development of new drug delivery systems (NDDS) than the development of new chemical entities. A frequently encountered problem in controlled release forms is the inability to increase residence time of the dosage form at application site. However prolonged contact time of a drug with body tissues through the use of a bioadhesive polymers, can significantly improve the performance of many drugs. The bioadhesive polymers may be classified as synthetic or natural polymers. The natural Bioadhesive polymers possess high molecular weight and contain a large number of hydrophilic functional groups. Therefore, much research these days is directed towards the use of biopolymers for formulating bioadhesive drug delivery systems. In this study a natural polymer and its derivatives have been used for formulating buccoadhesive drug delivery system. This book should be especially useful to all those researchers employed in the field of using natural polymers for bioadhesive drug delivery.
