The first set of notes (a), which is a fair illustration of the method employed by fifty per cent of beginners, has no meaning in itself and will prove suggestive only while the ideas are fresh in mind. It represents merely the subjects talked about. The second set (e) attempts to reproduce the statements themselves, and may be relied upon to bring back ideas which have slipped from the memory.
